K&N cone filter cleaning and reoiling in 10 steps:
Necessary along the K&N cone filter:
K&N Recharger kit consisting off Air Filter Cleaner and Air Filter Oil:
Step 1: Gently brush the cone filter:
Step 2: Wet in a bucket of cold water:
Step 3: Use the air filter cleaner to spray a thin layer on the cone and let it work for 10 minutes. Spray a thin layer of cleaner on the inside as well as the outside of the cone filter.
Step 4: Use the same bucket with cold water used at step 2, to rinse the air filter cleaner and the filth that it has dissolved from the filter cone (let the filter esoak in the water for a few minutes). If a lot of filth releases, repeat steps 3 and 4 (can be with a bucket of clean water).
Step 5: Rinse the last debris of the cone filter using a water tap system. Caution: only from the inside out, not from the outside in otherwise you will damage the filter cone by pressing filth remains deeper into the filter!
Step 6: Let the clean filter dry for a few hours:
Step 7: Using painter's tape and a small plastic bag you can prevent some areas to become fatty:
Step 8: Spray the dry filter with air filter oil. Maintain 10 cm of distance between the spray can and the cone filter. Because the air filter oil has a red colour added to it, it is easily recognized which spots you already sprayed. Let it work for 20 minutes, and repeat step 8 for those areas on the cone filter that have not yet received enough oil, let again work for 20 minutes:
Step 9: Gently tap with absorbing paper to reduce excessive oil. The rode colour is now apparent:
Step 10: After reinstalling the cone filter in the car, let the egnine run stationary for the first 5 minutes to allow the oil to infiltrate the filter some more in a gentle manner. According to the instructions the next cleaning round will be after 50-60 thousand kilomters. We advise to clean at least once a year. Enjoy:
